Transjakarta Officially Commences Jakarta Batavia Open-Top Bus Service

Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno officially flagged off the newest Transjakarta Open-Top Tour route, the 'Jakarta Batavia,' at Jalan Kali Besar Barat, West Jakarta.

Transjakarta is now operating four dedicated tourist routes

This scenic route takes travelers on a historic journey from Sarinah all the way to the heart of Kota Tua (Old Town).

In a move to diversify city experiences, Rano also inaugurated the operational trial for the 'Open Dining Jakarta' bus. This innovative service, which covers the Kali Besar Barat to Bundaran HI, is scheduled for a public launch in August 2026.

Transjakarta Instills Public Transport Culture from an Early Age

"Transjakarta is now operating four dedicated tourist routes: Jakarta Skyline, Jakarta Heritage, Jakarta Explorer, and the newly added Jakarta Batavia," he expressed, highlighting the city's commitment to integrated public transport and tourism.

He shared the unique charm of each route: Jakarta Skyline offers breathtaking panoramas of the Sudirman and M.H. Thamrin skyscrapers, while Jakarta Heritage invites residents to step back in time and explore the city's historic architecture.

For those wanting to see it all, Jakarta Explorer showcases the capital’s most famous landmarks, and the new Jakarta Batavia traces the city’s historical footprints from Sarinah to the legendary Kota Tua.

According to Rano, these routes prove that public transport is more than just a way to get from A to B—it is an essential part of the Jakarta adventure.

Through these tour buses, both locals and tourists can experience the city’s modernity, history, culture, and rapid progress, all in one seamless journey.

These specialized services aim to bolster Jakarta’s appeal as a top-tier travel destination and energize the surrounding business landscape.

"I am confident that public enthusiasm will be immense, especially once the road improvements in Harmoni are complete. Further, we plan to revitalize the Harmoni River with a beautiful atmosphere and lush parks. It will offer a completely different experience, though we acknowledge it is a long-term project," he emphasized.

Transjakarta President Director Welfizon Yuza has released the operational details for the city's newest attractions. The Jakarta Batavia Open-Top Tour departs daily at 4 PM, 6:30 PM, and 8:30 PM, with tickets available for Rp 75,000 on the TJ App.

The Open Dining Jakarta service, priced at Rp 500,000 per head, offers a sophisticated experience featuring a full-course menu and live music. The bus, which can accommodate 30 guests, is designed to run up to three trips a day.

"Beyond the fine dining and live violin, we are offering an educational experience. Passengers will be immersed in the history of Jakarta through storytelling as the bus traverses the city’s iconic heritage sites," he closed.
